Azerbaijan's sustainable tourism practices showcased at international summit

Azerbaijan’s strategic approach and initiatives in the development of sustainable tourism were presented at the annual summit of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), held in Istanbul, Türkiye.

Representing Azerbaijan at the summit, which took place from April 21 to 23, were the State Tourism Agency and the Azerbaijan Tourism Board.

Under the theme "Timeless Wisdom for a Sustainable Future," the event gathered government officials, representatives of international organizations, and tourism experts to discuss the critical role of sustainability as a key direction for the future development of global tourism.

During the intergovernmental session, Florian Sengstschmid, Chief Executive Officer of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, delivered a speech on the transformation of tourism governance and policy mechanisms, innovative regulatory approaches, and the principles of sustainable development.

Within the framework of the event, meetings with international partners were held, during which Azerbaijan shared its position on the development of environmentally responsible tourism products, the preservation of cultural heritage, and community-based tourism initiatives.
